Here are three models of the famous MedReady Medications Dispenser. They are
lockable (to prevent double dosing) with 28 compartments & hold up to 11
caplets. Added features include a red flashing light & a modem that will
call emergency numbers if meds are not taken.
- MedReady Automatic Medications Dispenser - You'll be delighted with this
moderately priced medications dispenser that holds up to 28 doses and provides
the right medications at the right time. Set it to alarm up to four times
per day. At the prescribed time, the unit will sound its beeping alarm (which
can be set to last for 30, 45, 60 or 250 minutes). The dispenser is easy to
load, easy to use, and it's lockable, so no chance of mistake or double-dosing.
- MedReady Automatic Medications Dispenser with Flashing Red Light - Exactly
the same as the basic unit, except the MedReady Automatic Medications Dispenser
with Flashing Red Light has a flashing light that compliments the auditory
beeping alarm. Great for those with hearing difficulties.
- The MedReady PLUS - The MedReady PLUS offers all the benefits of the first
two units, plus a phone modem that makes it possible for distant caregivers
to know if and when medications were taken (removed from the dispenser). Plug
the unit into your phone jack and it will monitor the alarm times, plus post
the information to a secure web site. If the meds are not removed by the end
of the alarm duration, the MedReady PLUS will alert the Call Center to call
up to three emergency telephone numbers. (The first number can be used to
call the patient.)
If the phone becomes disconnected or after calling all three emergency
numbers (failing to get a response), an emergency email will be sent to
the primary caregiver. If the calls are picked up by an answering machine,
a message will be left and the next number called. The unit also checks
for power outages or telephone failure every 24 hours. One year warranty.
Product Features:
- Programmable for up to four medication times per day
- Color: Blue cover, light grey base
- Dimensions: 10-3/4" (diameter) x 2-1/2"
- Weight: 2-1/2 lbs.
- Comes with emergency back-up battery pack
- Plug-in adapter
- Extra Carousel Tray with Cover is available for 18.00
What we like best about this product: All three of these units are simple,
inexpensive and dependable. Program the times, fill the pill compartments and
the dispenser does the rest. The units are lockable, so it makes accidental
double dosing virtually impossible.
The Automatic Medications PLUS eliminates the fear of not knowing whether a
loved one has taken their medications or not by calling distant caregivers and
posting the info on a secure Internet web site. And the dispenser does not eliminate
the phone jack, you can still have a phone next to it by plugging it into the
jack on the unit.

The Medications Dispenser is designed to help avert attempts by patients to double dose – take their medications and then, forgetting, take them again.
Though lockable, it is possible to force the top off and access the medications contained inside of the unit. It should be noted that many people with Alzheimer’s disease have the strength and ability to outwit even the most well-designed products. Caregivers should monitor the use of the Medications Dispenser and if there is any attempt or indication that the patient might try to forcefully break into it, they should remove it and provide an alternative means of dispensing medications.
