Sensory & Activity Objects Keeps Hands Busy

Alzheimer's can cause restless hands. Our Activity Pack can help!

Seniors with Alzheimer’s or dementia may show anxiety or agitation through fidgety hands. Signs include pulling or rubbing at clothes or bedding, rubbing hands together, twisting fingers, wringing hands, and generally keeping hands in motion. Sensory therapy or fidget items are an effective way to reduce anxiety, calm nerves, and provide comfort. Our Fidget & Sensory Activity Packs contain simple, touch-based activities that help someone with Alzheimer’s keep hands busy in safe, soothing ways.

Each pack includes:

12" Liquid Touch Tile

Our fantastic liquid tile mats are portable and will encourage sensory integration and gross motor skills with their squishy and colorful moving liquid. A simple press on the mats gets the liquid color moving within. Loved-ones will be mesmerized by how the liquid moves. Set up on a table top with their anti-slip back side to prevent slipping. Safety tested. Non-toxic and super durable. Each tile measures 12” square. Colors may vary.

Crinkle Pad Set
A fun and audible solution to engage and grab attention. Assorted, colorful, textured fabrics contain a cellophane center that “crinkles” when it's grasped or touched for immediate cause and effect feedback. Use them to engage those who are withdrawn or as a basis for reminiscence and discussion. Also perfect for restless or curious hands that can pat, stroke, and fold. Durable grommets and a handy carabiner hold the 3 pads together making them super portable and easy to attach to belt loops, backpacks, walkers, and more. Pads measure approx. 8” square. Washable. Colors may vary.

Fidget Bag
The perfect little portable bag to place in a loved one’s hands and offer instant comfort to those with dementia and/or a wide range of sensory-related conditions. Soft, safe, and washable, this clutching fidget bag is designed to keep hands and minds active and engaged while providing the comfort of weight and an affordable, drug-free therapeutic alternative to help relieve the boredom, stress and agitation often associated with dementia and long term care. Features a multitude of colors and textures that are sure to engage. The soft fleece and chenille material contains plastic pellets which offers a comforting weight. The 3 smooth plastic beads on cords can be moved up and down and multi-colored loops around the edge offer tactile and visual stimulation. Measures 4-1/2” square.

Tactile Ball
Filled with vinyl bead balls, our Tactile Sensory Ball has a unique feel – perfect for your activity program or to pass the time. Great for games or fine-motor manipulation. Their soft, squishy texture helps them stay put and keeps them from rolling away. Approx. 2-1/2" diameter.

Ordered for my Mom, for Christmas, so don't know yet how she likes them. However, I can say they are sturdy, attractive and certainly look as if they'll hold her interest. I also appreciate how quickly the Alzstore ships my orders.

Each year CGM, as the SVA Service Extension Unit in our county provides quality of life gifts to our local skilled nursing facilities.  This year the project was in collaboration with the memory care unit.  While sensory/fidget items may not seem like quality of life, for a person who is easily agitated, these items can mean the difference between a sense of calm and behavior issues leading to isolation.  Rev Angie Kidd, MA, BS, COTA/ROH, CEO Common Grace Ministries
